I have been following the happenings of CES (consumer electronics show) 2010 in Las Vagas over the past week where Lady GaGa made a completely unexpected apperance & of all things announced a new partnership with Polaroid.
More specifically, she has been named creative director for a specialty line for Polaroid.
In an interview with CNBC, Lady GaGa talks more about the role, explaining:
“My job has nothing to do with me being a pop star. It’s not an endorsement deal or campaign… it is 100% a partnership with me as the creative director of new products and branding nothing more than my artistic vision.”
& to boot, she posted a picture of herself on Twitter holding her new Polaroid business card.
According to Polaroid, the GaGa specialty line will be available in late 2010. Unfortunately there’s no indication of what they might look like, but I am hoping for some seriously awesome eye candy.
Lady GaGa has an unmistakably powerful influence, and something tells me it might just be enough to pull Polaroid off the rocks.
I saw a critic asking, ‘why would a a company hire a pop singer to do anything but star in a commercial for them?‘ Lady GaGa has the smarts, passion, and not to mention an entire empire of support, to inject success into almost any venture she embarked on. Pursedlips was absolutely correct when they said Lady GaGa may be the single most powerful editorial machine for fashion designers & I think that translates very easily into other industries.
What do you think of Lady GaGa’s partnership with Polaroid? I want to know now how this is going to turn out, because right now I am saying yes & yes to a GaGaroid camera!

I’ve been wanting a Polaroid so bad for so long! I thin that the brand will get its shine back with the help of GaGa and hell yeah, I want a GaGaroid too!

I definitely think this was a smart move by Polaroid. Lady G. has the vision, momentum, confidence, and creativity to be successful in this new venture. I love that instead of jumping right to a fashion line that she has this interesting partnership first. Hope you have a great week! xo, mel

I think this will be a brilliant partnership and a very smart idea on Polaroid’s part. I honestly don’t see why a pop
star can’t be a creative director as well, especially considering this one is business savvy and has the smarts to
not only orchestrate or own looks, own shows and write her own songs. Most stars merely perform and leave all
the style and design matters to others. Gaga pretty much created the entire vision herself. And if Lindsay Lohan or
any other celeb can ‘design’ clothes or whatever else, I don’t think it’s a stretch for a celebrity to create or design
any other product.

I am glad to hear that you are as excited as I am to see what comes out!
@Wrecked Stellar; I completely agree, there is a reason this lady continues to amaze us & I am impressed by her skipping a fashion label too.
@hauteworld; Being a pop star seems so secondary to GaGa, she is one business savvy & creative person.

sure, why not. she wears wacky sunglasses. when every celebrity is collaborating with established designers and brands, why not include Gaga in the trend, she is such a product herself.
if she brought back polaroid film, i would worship her.

I really adore Lady Gaga with her unusual costumes however she really let herself down this time going out in see through undergarments.
