Last Friday my boyfriend and I drove up to Puhoi Cottage for Devonshire Cream Tea, a sweet platter of tea and scones for two.
The old Cottage has now been a TeaRoom for nearly 40 years. It’s one of the oldest TeaRooms in New Zealand. It is the oldest TeaRoom still serving “Devonshire Cream Teas” in NZ.
All the scones and yummy cakes are baked at the cottage and all the recipes used, have been handed down from owner to owner. Add to that the pretty garden setting and valley views and you get a truly unique experience.
There was this ridiculously friendly cat loitering around the garden, crawling up on the guests tables and initiating rather feisty games. I tried to get a picture but it kept moving whenever I’d get close.

The scones were huge, and came with little pots of cream & jam.

Unfortunately we were hit by a quick (and heavy) sun shower just as we were pouring our first cups of tea. We had to make a mad dash for the indoor dining area and the outdoor chairs were too wet to return afterward. Clear skies remained for the rest of the day though, wish we had arrived just half an hour later…

You are so pretty! Your outfit is really cute too- diggin’ the pink heels.
Sounds like a gorgeous little place! Those photos are causing cravings for fresh scones…*drools*…dammit, I’m gonna have to have some jam on toast and pretend.
Awww, and the scones came complete with a friendly li’l kitty! Who could ask for more?
It’s a pity about the sunshower- but for some reason it just seems to add to the romance of the place as it appears in my mind!
P.s. Thanks again for the very lovely comments on my recent post! methinks I’ll be frequenting your blog now too-it’s too full of prettiness to stay away from!

I LOVE the shoes. I have some similar ones that I can’t wear, because they fit too big, and slide out with each step
But I had to buy them anyways.

@ Asylum Dolly: Thank you! I do get quite the craving just looking at them. Mmm, yummy.
@ Ella: Awh, that sucks. Barbie pink heels are the best for brightening up an otherwise monochromatic outfit.
