Chanel Spring 2010 via Style.com
I like clogs in a funny sort of way. I like that they’re clunky and odd. I like that they’re made of wood as it gives them a rustic charm. I’ve been admiring them from a distance for some time. I had bad experiences with clogs the first time they came around, they kept falling off my feet and I couldn’t understand how anyone could get around in them. They also went out of fashion in rather deliberate way. However, I’m starting to come around to the idea of buying a pair following a sweet tweet from @emmagleason, and after seeing her wear them so well.
Clogs + socks = a perfect match.
I’ve picked out a few of my favorites from the web, but I expect to follow this buying my own pair. I’m sure that admiring them for this long must count for something.
Prima Sling Clogs, Justice Lace-up Clogs
Let me re-touch on that earlier point, clogs went out of style in a rather deliberate way. They were very quickly ‘not.’ Until the Chanel Spring 2010 show, after which clogs seemed to make a loud re-entrance to ‘hot’ – but not for no reason. This version of the clog is very cute [hard to argue with after flicking through the aforementioned Chanel show image].
The question is, how long with they last? I want to know what you think of clogs… Is it worth the purchase, or do you think they’ll be out of style just as fast as they came in?

Personally, I think they’ll last for as long as Alexa Chung wears them. Once she puts them away, I think they’ll go out of style. At the same time, I think that, if you truly love clogs, they will be in style for as long as you adore them!
@CF – that’s a point! I’d like a running list of what we’re wearing (partially) because of that lady. I do like your final comment the most though.
I like them but still haven’t find the perfect pair!
I’m still looking as well – but I think I’ll probably end up getting mine from TopShop..
Hey, I’m loving the clog trend!! I love most trends that come back but can’t stand the fact that most are here only temporarily….like with thigh-high boots…i always fear they’ll go back out of fashion. I don’t understand why though…to me it’s like platform shoes or knee high boots…they never go out of fashion, there are different variations of the styles how ever. I think clogs should stay around. Instead of the trend phasing out, they should just keep varying the styles. I’d say it’s worth it..and i think since the trend is pretty out there…go with an out there version, like the Miu Miu printed ones. Otherwise the ones shown above wouldn’t date in my opinion, I’ve been seeing that style around for years before they showed up on the Chanel Runway!
Monelle – thanks for that comment! I agree with you, perhaps the majority of people just get tired with the old hat and are too keen too look for something new.
What is the name of the 2nd Chanel model in the white dress?
