Ever since Ruby put its best foot forward and moved onward (and upward) from its sports & casual-wear past (think hoodies) I’ve had a small love affair with the brand. The past 2 – 3 collections have made their way onto my wish lists, and so I was eagerly awaiting their first showing at New Zealand Fashion Week.
The collection titled ‘The Adventures’ is clearly inspired by the hiking type drawing inspiration from khaki coats, flannel and hiking shorts. But, Ruby makes it cute and wearable mixing it up with girlie frills and pretty dresses in all the right places.
While I wasn’t too interested in the puffy vests that made a number of appearances throughout the show, I couldn’t see them on myself (!), what I really loved were the cute dresses. The one of the left I recognize as a variation of a dress cut from the current season and I welcome it back again because it really is cute!
This furry fabric also caught my eye – I love that fuzz! And I must have that sweater on the right…
Ruby does amazing coats every season, and I’m also wanting this fantastic shiny black (rain?) coat.

In honor of Fashion Week Ruby hold a wee gathering at their boutique stores, providing bubbles & cupcakes alongside a live steam of the show. Unfortunately the show was at 9am and at that time I was still in bed while it was hailing outside… but I wished I could have been there!
And that’s not all, they’ve also launched a small capsule collection in the spirit of The Adventurers.
It’s pretty cute.
Well done Ruby for rocking fashion week!
