I was pleased to be invited to the announcement of the DHL Express Fashion Export Scholarship that was held yesterday afternoon at Studio Lumiere in Parnell. Unfortunately, on the day of the event I got tied up with work and couldn’t get away to attend. Disappointed – yes – but still very interested in the announcement.
The DHL Express Fashion Export Scholarship aims to identify New Zealand’s most promising up-and-coming fashion designers, and assist them in growing internationally. The Scholarship was developed in collaboration between DHL Express NZ and Fashion Industry New Zealand (FINZ), and it’s now in its third year.
Previous winners of the scholarship have been Lonely Hearts (2009) and Stolen Girlfriends Club (2008)
The winner receives NZ$10,000 worth of international freight and coaching in freight and logistics from DHL Express, as well as export mentoring – a pretty amazing prize!
This year’s finalists were…
My pick was Twenty-Seven-Names, who have done an amazing job in the past year with some incredible success.
And the winner WAS Twenty-Seven-Names! Apparently just after winning the CLEO Wonder Women of the Year award earlier on. They are definitely one to keep an eye on, and you can check out their collections on their website here.
