I’m looking forward to the New Zealand Fashion Festival, happening between the 21st – 26th March. Unlike Fashion Week it’s a consumer rather than an industry event, open to the public and focuses on what’s now rather than what’s to come.
The designers and retailers involved are getting pretty into it to, with a lot more than just fashion shows happening on the week. Moochi is holding a styling competition, inviting customers into their stores to style their latest collection (lights & model are provided), Ruby is launching a limited edition collection of little black dressers, and a number of designers are giving free gifts with purchases on the week. Many designers also tell about how to stretch out a shirt and keep it looks pretty.
The main event are the four designer collection shows which present a mixture of designer and high street labels in the one show – I’ve snapped up tickets to the Monday nighter.
Of the designers presenting parts of their Autumn/Winter 2011 collections on the Monday show, the ones I am most looking forward to are Moochi, Ruby, Cybele and Zambesi. The collections won’t be anything new, but I’m still looking forward to the experience & atmosphere of the show.
I’ll be bringing my camera and, with a bit of good will from the Canon Gods, snapping some pictures to share here. You can suss out the schedule and book your own tickets via NZFashionFestival.com.
Does this sort of fashion-event happen anywhere else? Gah, can’t wait!
