I was invited to the ‘Redefining Max’ Spring 2012 runway show last Wednesday, held at the Sphere Design Capsule on Cross Street in Newton. I’d been looking forward to the event for a few weeks now, as a friend of mine who works at Max has been giving me an unofficial low-down on the amount of goodness that has been arriving in the Max stockroom..
Max presented three looks – each very different from the last. The first of the three – ‘Hacienda‘ – introduces a Spanish twist to the combination of red, black, and white in the form of lace, ruffled neck and hemlines, and a rose print reminding of World.
‘In the Garden’ presented plenty of spring florals, with printed pants and tops, contrasting colours (blue/orange, pink/teal, teal/purple, orange/teal) and bright blazers.
The last look – ‘To Catch a Thief‘ – was my favourite, combining styles from the 50’s with pastels. The blonde curls and wide-eyed, red-lipped looks bought me back to Mad Men (and I swear the first song the models walked to was the theme song from none other…)
You can shop Hacienda online and in-store now, with In the Garden arriving from 30 July and To Catch a Thief from 27 August (…too long, if you ask me!).
