This girly Lonely Hearts Club dress I found for around $100 in the New Zealand Designer Garage Sale (one of my better sale buys!). The straps were a bit too long (and unfortunately not adjustable), but after having them shortened they fit just right. It is very feminine, which is why I’ve toughened it up with a leather jacket. This particular jacket from COOP is incredibly versatile.. I can’t imagine what I would have done before it. : )

Making the most of the last few days of sun.. We shot these in an open park under the evening sun, and he lighting-effect was especially sun-drenched. This top is a take on the sheer trend I can get behind. So subtle you’ll miss it if you’re not paying close attention. I do own quite a few sheer bits and pieces, but I find this is one of the few you can get away without wearing another top underneath. This skirt was a surprise-buy from COOP. I love the way it nips the waist, and flares out without being overwhelming. The full zip is a nice touch, and can be worn either at the front or back depending on the look you want. I’m looking forward to wearing it in the winter with black opaque tights and ankle boots.

I can’t believe I’ve been sitting on these photos for over a week! Easter weekend was gorgeous here in New Zealand, so after a rather bismal summer I wanted to get out and about and make the most of it. Cafe’s, the beach, and ice cold treats… So good! This leather jacket was a bit of a weekend staple, simply because it’s not very good at being a leather jacket (it’s not that warm at all)! But no worry, as that meant I could wear it pretty comfortably all weekend long without getting too hot.

Happy Valentine’s Day! It might be a card holiday, but I still love Valentine’s Day – the red, pink, glitter, and hearts. It’s a good excuse to have a bit of girly fun. So, in the spirit of Valentine’s Day I wanted to take part in my first BDIB challenge - RED. I very rarely get to wear this dress, it dances that fine line between too dressy and too casual. This weekend I dressed it down with suede booties, a satchel, – and my favourite accent: gold.

 I love pleated skirts since they’re easy to wear on almost any occasion. They’re also a bit of fun when the wind picks up (as long as they’re not too short!), which was exactly the case when these photos were taken. This particular style of skirt goes well with the school-girl esque Rachel Comey heels (the ones I bought from Solestruck during their Black Friday sale).

Tim and I took these photos in the driveway next to our house. I liked the brickwall backdrop, but the lighting must have been a little funny as they came out a tad dark and blurry (note: the blue hue is my own doing!). I love these ‘short & long’ style skirts, they’re fun to wear and really flattering. I bought this one from Lippy a few weeks ago. They seem to go best with cropped tops, but in absence of a proper mid-rift baring piece I’ve just twisted the front of my top into a knot. Easy.

The weather has been especially moody this weekend, so wearing all grey seemed rather fitting. It started raining just as we finished taking these photos, too… had to scramble back to the car before it began literally pelting down!

This top I bought while I was in Sweden from a little shop called Noa Noa. I love the subtle flare in the sleeves and hem. They were having an incredible sale at the time where your total purchase was slashed by 50% at the point of sale.

These shoes are my absolute favourites – a great take on lacy mary janes with a chunky heel.

While I was on holiday in Sweden I was lucky enough to see Denmark a couple of times as well. On this particular day we drove into Copenhagen to do a bit of sight seeing. Copenhagen really is a beautiful city, and I would have loved to have spent more time there…

We parked in a funny car park in the central CBD (I think!), It was brick lain and complete with sculptured hills and trees for decoration. It had a ‘aesthetic for the sake of it’ vibe about it. I kinda liked it.

First order of business was a visit to the Carlsberg factory! This was at about 10am in the morning, and on an empty stomach the complimentary beer went down a treat…

Fun fact: The Carlsberg logo used to be a swastika… until it’s ‘original meaning was lost.’

The beautiful really starts along the waterfront. The mismatched & brightly colored houses, boats docked in the harbor, cobblestoned streets and the busy hustle and bustle are wonderful… the clear blue skies didn’t hurt either!

Lunch on the canal was amazing. It was devilishly warm and I got a little sunburnt. The shopping was brilliant, and if/when I go back I’d like to have more time for it. I hear that Copenhagen in particular is wonderful for vintage shopping.

Looking over these photos has me missing Scandinavia so much. I can’t wait to go back and my fingers are crossed for sometime within the next 1.5 – 2 years.

Well, I might not have been so much as living as I was holidaying… but it’s living that I was wishing for! Stockholm is incredibly beautiful. It’s nothing like I’d ever seen before, and every nook & alley looked like it would make a perfect photo shoot location.

These are just a few snaps from one of the few days I spent in Stockholm (admittedly, it’s the one when I was wearing something I particularly liked..). I’ve tried to omit most of the “touristy” shots so that I don’t bore you too much, but I hope that you like this selection.

My favourite part of the city was Gammla Stan, or ‘the old town.’ It was riddled with narrow streets, and teeny-tiny alleyways in which you’d find secret cafe’s away from the hustle and bustle of the tourists.

The downside: They say that New York bleeds you dry. Stockholm bleeds you dry and then tries to take what’s left of your organs. I can’t fathom the amount I managed to spend in just 3 days! This lunch cost approx US$35 [pricey drinks excluded] and it definitively wasn’t anything fancy…

Although the view was GORGEOUS, and with a soft breeze in the air it won out over many other lunches I’ve had in the past!

As I didn’t see any way to mention it earlier: I AM back in New Zealand after perhaps the most incredible 3 weeks of my life. Getting back into the daily grind has been surprisingly refreshing thanks to a few technological upgrades at work… [I've gone MAC & I doubt I'll go back!]. I hope you’ll be seeing more of me around in the next few weeks as I get back into a regular schedule.

I’m lucky enough to be enjoying a second summer. Sweden in the summer is a lovely escape from the wintery drizzle of Auckland City. It’s a funny kind of summer where the sun never properly goes down, where it’s hot and cold at the same time as the wind has a bit of a bite to it.

My uniform is a summer dress, or a loose blouse coupled with denim shorts, cat eyed sunglasses and a cardigan or jumper to pull on when the wind picks up…

Today I paired this polka dot faux corset top with a flowy black skirt and a yellow cardigan. We went for a drive along the coast of Southern Sweden to the southern most point of Sweden. It was ridiculously beautiful.
