If I could only recommend you try ONE product this year – L’Oreal’s Mythic Oil would be it. It truly is fantastic and has worked with my bleached hair. I’ve been using the original Mythic Oil for a few months now – and It’s worked wonders with just a few pumps into my wet hair leaving it soft and smooth after a blow dry and straighten. So, when L’Oreal asked if I’d like to give the three new oils joining the range I was more than happy to give them a go.
I’ve managed to come up with quite a beauty wishlist over the past couple of weeks – I think I’ve become a bit obsessed! However, beauty products aren’t cheap in New Zealand so this could become an expensive habit rather quickly. In actual fact, the thing I want the most is a beautiful vanity set-up… Unfortunately, there’s no hope of me getting one without moving houses first. I am SO curious about Lancome Visionnaire. It claims to smooth the appearance of fine lies and pores, and improve overall skin appearance – and has some pretty impressive stats to back it up. I’d love to give it a go to see if its all Lancome claims it to be.
Teaching your tween the importance of skin care early helps to ensure they’ll have good habits as they get older and skin changes. So it’s important to use good tween skin care products. But this article is not just focused around tweens only. There seem to be a lot of people in their early 20’s wanting to repent their skincare sins of the past and start prioritizing their skincare ‘routines’ – I can definitely relate! Have you noticed the small change in my hair colour as of late (hint: it’s a big one!)? Yes – I went blonde! I’ve been wanting to make this change for awhile now, and earlier this year I decided to make it make it happen. It did put my hair under a lot of stress, but thankfully my hair has since returned to its previously-excellent condition.
I have received a few emails wondering how I did it, especially how I minimized the damage. In response, I thought I’d share the process that I went through so that if you’re thinking of making a similar change you can learn from what I’ve already been through.
The Body Shop Love Etc package.
The Body Shop made my day last Monday by announcing me one of the winners of their ‘Love Etc…’ prize packs! I had entered the draw by tweeting why I love the body shop products (and promptly forgot about it, as you do).
The package arrived last week, containing the Love Etc… Body Butter, Love Etc… Eau De Parfum, and a small pack of candy love hearts.
Let me tell you, I adore the scent of the ‘Love Etc…’ range. It is delicate and sweet, without being overpowering. Jasmine and vanilla are the main ingredients, blended with sandalwood and musk.
The Body Shop Love Etc Perfume
I am not a perfume genius, but this one smells delicious. I am told it blends the key notes of jasmine and vanilla, mixed with the complementaries of pear, sandalwood, neroli, bergamot, and undertones of musk. This History articles helps you for the best history of perfume.
When I can really smell is the vanilla, but a sweeter, flowery and fruity vanilla without being sickening. The Body Shop describes it as ‘irresistible & uplifting,’ and I agree. It is very sweet and sensual, perfect for every day or special occasion use.
I think the bottle is pretty cute too:
This will look very cute on my vanity.
The Body Shop Love Etc Body Butter.
I am a shameless Body Shop body butter fan and I have been using their cocoa body butter for years. The ‘Love Etc’ body butter is almost a new favorite, just as good but I have a preference for smelling like cocoa. The ‘Love Etc…’ body butter is a sweet baby pink color, with a delicious fragrance of vanilla, jasmine and sandalwood. It is a lot lighter to use than some other body butters, and blends into the skin so easily leaving it feeling soft and sensuous.
There is something about this scene that is undeniably ‘love is in the air~.’ The ‘Love Etc’ range is available at the Body Shop, almost globally I believe, and is definitely worth a look.
PS: In case you were wondering, I tweeted:
@TheBodyShopNZ Nothing smells quite as delicious as the Body Shop products!
Are you a Body Shop fan? Have you tried any of the products from the ‘Love Etc’ range?
NARS Makeup Primer. Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer. Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch.
I’ve wondered for a long time as to weather I really need to use a makeup primer.
I was introduced to makeup primer awhile back, it was described to me as smoothing and preparing the skin for foundation application, allowing it to be applied evenly & last longer.
Primer’s are designed to prepare a “smooth and perfect surface,” onto which the makeup can “grab onto.”
According the Beauty-Advices.com the benefits of using a makeup primer include:
– Smoothing the skins surface, and evening skin tone to create a “perfect surface” for your makeup
– Disguise skin flaws and imperfections (including redness, fine lines and wrinkles)
– Pamper and nourish your skin
– Moisturize your skin and keeps it hydrated
– Stops oil and shine
– Allows your skin to “breath normally,” as the primer doesn’t clog the pores
– Allows makeup to glide on smoothly and blend easily
I decided to give primer a test run to see if it really was the miracle it is described as.
Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer, Wearing OPI Samoan Sand
I selected Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer, via @temptalia‘s recommendation.
Using the Primer
The gel was fun to apply, and made my skin feel amazingly soft. It did smell and feel a little odd, but I couldn’t stop touching my skin after application.
The primer did completely smoothed my skin, and the difference was noticeable! That’s not to say it prevented me from needing to still use a foundation.
You do need to give it time to set, in order to give the foundation something to ‘grab onto,’ but once it’s set foundation goes on easier and smoother. This also meant using less foundation overall, with the resulting effect even and ‘light’ looking.
Foundation also seems to last a little longer, not smearing off as easily, which is a bonus!
